This work fills a gap in French-language astrological literature. Until now, no study has been devoted exclusively to planetary retrogrades in birth charts. An analysis of the retrograde loop in five phases and nine points allows us to understand planetary retrogradation as a process of inner transformation rather than an insurmountable handicap. Geometry is also examined: what does the planet's movement reveal to us? What does it mean, for example, that Mercury's retrogrades trace a grand triangle in the sky while Venus displays a magnificent five-pointed star? Finally, interpretive examples illustrate these ideas to show how to recontextualize a retrogradation within the astrological chart as a whole. The retrogradation of a planet, experienced from within and not judged against the performance of a direct planet moving with clock time, resembles suspended time, an intimate space that unfolds warmly from the heart of being. When objective time seems to stop, inner space begins to unfold. This is the function of retrogrades in astrology: to allow the person to reconnect with their intimate program by disconnecting them from the external time of so-called "normal" life. Retrogradation is like a door that opens consciousness toward inner worlds, toward the unexplored territories of our magical reality. The human adventure offered by retrograde planets opens the gates of heaven. Gates that must be opened effortlessly, because inner life is nothing but paradoxes and reversals. Doing their part of the work, they build the other end of the bridge, completing the work of direct planets busy acting in the world. Thus, the invisible draws closer to the visible step by step to maintain the balance of the universe. The day has twenty-four hours. Direct planets belong to broad daylight; retrograde planets explore the night. What would one be without the other?
